Sure would be nice to be able to PM folks on this site rather than have to post email or phone numbers publicly.

I second that -

It would be really nice if we could delete our posts and have private messaging.

I don't think anyone wants to post their private contact info on here -

And it would be nice to privately message someone without worrying about everyone seeing it.

Due to the way the website is set up i'm afraid these options aren't simply available .

You would also have to register to the site to post and send messages, etc.

Posts can be deleted, but only by an administrator (The I.T Manager).

Also note no one on the committee is a professional web designer, if any one is capable of improving the website and wants to help the club please sign up at the next committee elections and help out :)

Hope this clears things up.

Best regards,

Chris D.

It's pretty simple to setup Vbulletin board, people can register and manage their own stuff. You can hire someone on freelancer.com or other similar sites to set it up fairly inexpensively.

Yeah that is just what a non profit need...an added expense of hiring someone to add that. The site is free and very useful and all I see is complaining. If you do not wish to give out your contact info then simply create a new yahoo or gmail email account and give that out. Hell I have one just for online shopping so I don't have to get unwanted ads in my main email. I admit private messaging would be nice but that can lead to other issues from liabilities to privacy concerns. By adding private messaging should you account become compromised or someone compromise the servers hosting the site your info could be released to the public. Not so bad if its just conversation but lets say a photo or something meant to be solely private was shared to the public. You would be upset and then you would want compensation. It just isn't worth the hassle to the group that runs the site.
