Hi,

I am a french girl moving to Goeje soon for three years. As i will have to take care of my children going to school, I will definitly need a car and therefore a driving license.

I am wondering if it is possible to get a driving license there in Geoje ?.

I have already successfully obtain the french "traffic rule" exam, and I want to pass the practical examination in korea.

Is there any driving school that allows foreign people to pass the exams?
What is required ? ( what do I have to bring from France?)

Thabk you

See below thread already posted on the forum.
If you have a license already, the you are required to bring that and an International Driving License which you will be able to drive on for 6 months before converting your national license to a Korean one.

No I don't have any driving license at all, I only got the theory part in France but will not be able to pass the practical exam before my departure. So I would like to get the korean driving license, and as I don't speak korean, is it possible in okpo / geoje to do so? How and where?
If someone who already got through this situation could give indications, that would be great!!!

It is possible to get driving lessons on Geoje.

You will have to do 20+ hours of driving, and a theory test which is held in Masan, the two practical tests can be taken on Geoje.

Unfortunately I don't have the contact details, but I do know there is the one place in Dokpo.

Hope this helps.

Chris.

Hi Ian,

I was just looking for some more info on the driving lessons that you mentioned. I tried calling the number, however the person at the other end didn't speak english. Is the number a digit too long or is it just my lack of tech skill.

Cheers in advance,

Rob

For those interested, I got my korean driving license now, there is a driver's license institute with people speaking english (just enough to complete the training!!) in Suwal (898-1 Yangjeong-Dong)(near Hillstate residence),
Here is the contact: Mr Sang-Wan Park, Mobile 010-9637-4450, e-mail: swpark07@naver.com
You need Alien card, 3 ID photos and will pass medical check (arranged by Mr Park).
It costs around 500 000 wons, and will take you 5 hours for "safe driving education" in a school class, 3 hours to go to Masan with their bus to pass written test (you will get a training CD), 2 hours inside driving practice (with small test at the end) and 6 hours outside driving practice, with the test at the end.
It took me 3 weeks to complete everything.

Hope it helps!

I just recently failed my driving test in the uk and am moving to Geoje this febuary so won't have time to take another test in the uk.

I would like to do a driving course in korea now.
I have read that you have to be resident in korea for 6 months before taking a driving test, does anyone know if this is true?

Many thanks
